Tomáš Šťastný

Tomáš had a connection to cinematography from an early age. He attended FAMU in Prague where he recently completed a Master of Arts in Cinematography. Already during his studies, Tomáš has been awarded the prize of AČK, FAMUfest, and Ostrava Kamera OKO. His work was in the selection of the prestigious CAMERIMAGE film festival. He is progressive but also very sensitive to the showcased topics and tasks he faces as a cinematographer. He draws endless inspiration from the work of Terrence Malick. Currently, he is working on feature films and documentaries in development as well as advertisement. Some of his interests are philosophy, photography, graphic design, and fine arts. He is a member of AČK.

During his studies, he received various appraisals, for example, the Czech Society of Cinematographers (AČK), FAMUfest or Ostrava Kamera OKO Cinematographers Film festival awards. CAMERIMAGE film festival selected the short film Streetwalker for its 2016 edition.

His long life interest in science and philosophy reflects on his work immensely, as seen in another one of his short films, A Pale Blue Dot, touching the transcendence theme via the connection between science and belief. He considers Terrence Malick and Darren Aronofsky as his significant influence. He loves architecture, especially brutalism and graphic design and is currently working on several feature film debuts.
